Cycle 7, Episode 8: "The Girl Who Wrecks the Car"
UPDATE: SMiZE & DREAM is closing its current location. But it could move!
I’m skipping the next episode "The Girls Who Made It This Far" because it’s just a recap. It reportedly includes more footage of Monique melting down.
Brooke got eliminated last week. We start off this episode with Michelle, CariDee and Melrose sitting around reminiscing about Brooke and how her elimination was a shock. Melrose feels like some people in the house aren’t serious about modeling and should go home before people like Brooke who want it (cough cough Michelle).
Michelle says she’s naturally good at modeling but doesn’t know if she has the desire for it. I think that’s a little haughty. You’re fine at modeling, Michelle.
The models all meet with Gabrielle Reece who teaches them “action modeling”. Gabrielle Reece is 6’3”. I love it!
Gabrielle has them practice posing while diving for a volleyball. This is not a very athletic bunch. But Jaeda does a decent job because she played volleyball in college.
Anchal keeps complaining about her weight and doesn’t want to take the towel around her waist off.
It bears repeating: she needs more self esteem and is not ready for this show despite her natural beauty!
After their lesson, the models meet up with the unique James St. James who is apparently a NASCAR fan.
I can’t tell if he’s wearing an ugly wig or it’s a headpiece that looks somewhat like hair.
He’s joined by Stanton Barrett, an actual NASCAR driver.
Their challenge is to take their own photo with a remote control while they pretend to argue with Stanton. It’s a lot of coordination.
Michelle pokes a hole in the car hood with her heel.
CariDee gets rough with Stanton but apologizes after.
Michelle wins the challenge.
She chooses Amanda, CariDee and Melrose to share a $10,000 shopping spree prize at a boutique. But there’s a catch!
In a weird competition, the four of them get 30 seconds to put on as much stuff as possible. The person with the most amount of merchandise wins all of the clothes between the four of them.
Melrose wins and gets a whole bunch of stuff.
So, Michelle won the actual challenge and then got screwed over.
Their photoshoot for the week is at an indoor skydiving center where they’ll be selling the CoverGirl TruBlend whipped foundation. Because it’s light and airy.
They’re all wearing the same white jumpsuit and helmet and there are so many elements going on. They’re in a wind tunnel. The instructor is holding onto them. The models are reaching for an imaginary product and pretending to be in space. Ultimately, the most important skill required seems to be core strength, which most of them lack.

Apparently, it was popsicle day on set.

I have gone indoor skydiving and you know I channeled this photoshoot.
Melrose displays further proof that the women in this house are losing their minds.
Tyra’s photo at panel has nothing to do with indoor skydiving.
Is she on a cruise ship?
The show has reached the end of its ideas for panel. The judges assign each model a noun and an adverb and they have to act that out.
Other way Tyra.
The most memorable part is Melrose’s instinct to “box joyfully”.
CariDee again commits hard.
Anchal gets read at panel for not trying fully in the challenge. She was so excited to leave, she ran off the stage.
My favorite photos from the shoot are Michelle’s.
And CariDee’s.
The rest are mostly not great/really bad photoshop.
The judges love Melrose’s photo, but I think it looks like an awkward Disney movie poster.
It also could have been taken on a couch, a much cheaper alternative to a wind tunnel.
The judges (and the producers) seem to be over Anchal not applying herself enough. This episode really doesn’t make her look good. So she is sent home over Michelle. Neither of them are sure they want to be models.
Right after getting eliminated, Anchal is very kind and positive. She and Tyra hug.
She and Melrose make up in a way.
This was never explained, but Anchal was in an issue of French Vogue before ANTM. What??
She’s gone on to have a successful career as a model and actress.
She was spotted holding hands with Jim Carrey in 2011!
And she’s been a briefcase carrier on Deal or No Deal.
She still looks stunning!
And look at this photo she took with CariDee!
Get it, Anchal!
Thanks for reading and I hope to see you back here for Cycle 7, Episode 9. The models go abroad!
