Cycle 6, Episodes 11: "The Girl Who Is Rushed to the Emergency Room"
We’re down to the final five and there’s this awkward simmering tension between Joanie and Jade.
Damn! So why are they eating together just the two of them?
The models go to a theater where they first watch traditional Thai dancing…
And then are taught to do it themselves.
The show reminds us of this Tyra photo that I’m sure is either not culturally appropriate or just looks silly to South Asian people.
Danielle initially complains of having a migraine, which turns into her feeling woozy.
After the lesson, they’re eating lunch and Danielle’s symptoms only seem to be getting worse.
The next thing we see is her getting carried out by a production guy and rushed to the emergency room.
It looks really intense.
The remaining four have to carry on with their dance lesson and perform what they just learned.

The outfits they wear are so cool!
Joanie wins the challenge and takes Sara to share a dinner with a publisher for Elle Thailand.
Danielle apparently was just super dehydrated on top of being exhausted and having food poisoning. Casual. She leaves the hospital against the doctor’s advice.
The next morning, she still feels like shit and doesn’t want to get up for the photoshoot. But she does anyway. What is up with these contestants knocking on death’s door but then mustering all their strength to do a damn photoshoot?? (Adrianne from Cycle 1)
And poor Danielle specifically! Last week she was worried about going home over not closing the gap between her teeth. This week she’s worried about going home for being sick.
The models show up for their photoshoot and Danielle understandably looks way less excited than the others.
Mr. Jay arrives riding an elephant and says that’s the way they all have to reach the destination for their shoot. Then they’re going to pose with elephants.
The product they’re advertising is Venus Vibrance, a battery-powered razor for women.
Mr. Jay says the goal of the shoot is to contrast the models’ smooth legs with the rough skin of the elephant.
Danielle is not only sick but also afraid of riding on the elephant.

So they can only reach this location by elephant, but Mr. Jay makes these women SHAVE THEIR LEGS in the middle of a jungle. No one will be able to tell that their legs are shaved in the photos!!

Danielle’s still recovering and not feeling great.
I don’t know the ethics around having the elephant in the shoot. It does seem to get nervous by the flash and sound of the camera.
Jade says she’s really into the elephant because it reminds her of an ancient dinosaur.
This is not true.
I really like Tyra’s photo before panel this week.
Is it culturally offensive? I don’t know.
Their panel challenge is to convey different emotions while wearing a traditional Thai mask.

I agree with Miss J that Furonda’s legs could be more elegant in her photo. And her underwear is fully visible.
There was some forced drama where Joanie did poses at the shoot and Sara copied some of them. Joanie feels offended. Jay stirs shit saying that Sara didn’t do enough to make the poses her own. Then Tyra brings that up at panel. Sara’s photo still turned out great although I think the back leg is a little much.
Jade gets a little negative feedback for her photo. And I agree it’s not the best.
Everyone’s gagged by Joanie, but I think her one leg is too high?
The judges are all impressed by Danielle powering through her illness for this photo.
Once the models are gone, the judging panel rags a little bit on Danielle for her speech. Tyra says she needs to sound “a little less ghetto”.
I don’t appreciate it.
Furonda lands in the bottom two with Jade (again). I think Jade should go home, but it’s Furonda who gets the chop.
In true Furonda fashion, she packs up wearing her fluffy tiara.
Furonda also got to be on next week’s decoy photoshoot in Thailand. She looks good!
After Top Model, Furonda modeled some but she also became a real estate agent and eventually a lawyer. She has her own practice in Stuttgart, Arkansas.
She was even the Executive Director of the Arkansas Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty.
She manifested that!
