Cycle 7, Episode 3: "The Girl Who Hates Her Hair"
At the start of this episode, Michelle and Megan are practicing their runway walks together.
Since the show, it’s come out that both of them are queer. I wonder if they were aware of this and had any romantic feelings. Or even just felt camaraderie. #Sapphism
Speaking of feelings, Melrose is in hers after being in the bottom two last week. She literally fell to the floor when Tyra called her name. A tad dramatic for me.

All of the models meet with the Js for breakfast.
It’s pretty boring, but it seems like it’s just an excuse to get them out of the house. Because when they get back…
Tyra’s waiting for them.
And they have a salon set up in their house for makeovers!
Maybe they didn’t book a salon in time. Or the salons they’ve used in the past hated so many people crying over their haircuts and said no.
Tyra assigns them their hairstyles with drawings?? Some of them look more like caricatures.
Cough cough Jaeda. She’s getting the most extreme chop. Tyra compares it to Halle Berry, but this drawing is NOT Jaeda.

Megg’s hair ends up looking like a wig.
Anchal still looks beautiful and they threaded her forehead to move her hairline up. I don’t see it.

Brooke’s hair is too dark.
Michelle and Amanda look good. Tyra made it sound like they were going to be extremely different, but they both got the same hair color.
It works for them.
Jaeda WAILS when they start cutting her hair.
But the final product is SO GOOD.
CariDee got so much fake, plasticky looking extensions.
Eugena’s bob was very matronly. The weave they give her turned out well.
I don’t think Megan’s hair needed to be lightened so much.
But she looks so good in her interviews.
Melrose throws a hissy fit over getting her hair lightened but it doesn’t look that different.
A.J.’s hair needed to be lightened from bottle black, so this was fine.
And Monique’s hair is about the same. She’s upset she doesn’t get a more drastic transformation, but I know she would have thrown a fit if she did.
Mr. Jay is over all of the emotions at the makeovers. He goes home in a huff. Please burn this hat.
I didn’t realize they address Megan’s queerness in the show but apparently they do!
We never hear anymore about the girlfriend.
By the next day, Mr. Jay has had some time to decompress and he’s wearing a power clash blazer and shirt. I decline. Also, is that a wedding ring on his finger?!
He gives the models a personal branding challenge. The way it works is they’ll be doing their own makeup and styling themselves. They take elevators and each floor will have another component to their look. But they have limited time. On the top floor, any model still standing will get to meet with a special CoverGirl representative.
Megg gets eliminated on the first floor.
On the fifth floor, they choose their wardrobe. Some of them run out of the elevators in just their panties.
Ginger (conservative) would have hated this!
Monique misses the elevator and is eliminated.
Those who make it to the top floor meet with Queen Latifah, who helped create CoverGirl’s Queen Collection.
They’re all wearing prom dresses(?), except for CariDee who has a weird head wrap and tunic thing.
Eugena wins the challenge. It would have been weird if Queen Latifah didn’t choose someone of color because of the makeup line. Eugena picks CariDee and Jaeda for her prize, which is a photoshoot for CoverGirl’s website.
Cute.
When they get back to the house, Monique is PISSED! She didn’t get to meet Queen Latifah.
She spends over three hours on the phone. Melrose is mad because she needs to talk to her landlord about getting the deposit on her apartment back. WUT?
But it’s Anchal who barges in and confronts Monique.
Go off, Big Anch!
Their photoshoot this week is over-the-top wigs a la Black hair shows.

What a great way to show off their new makeovers!
The three “weavologists” styling them are as follows:

Most of the models look ridiculous in this shoot.
Tyra’s photo at panel is a knockoff of Keenyah’s gluttony shoot from Cycle 4.
I really like Anchal’s photo. If her wig were moved back a few inches, it would be even better.
I also like CariDee’s although the judges think she looks like a drag queen.
Shoutout to Brooke for having the dumbest hair.
When handing out photos this week, I notice Tyra says:
Normally she says “beautiful girls”. Who in this cycle does she not think is beautiful??
The bottom two are Megan and Jaeda. Neither is praised for their modeling ability. Tyra says it’s interesting because they both have short hair…
Good comparison, Tyra.
Megan gets eliminated. I think it’s mostly due to her not having a good enough storyline to move her through the show. Surviving a plane crash and being a lesbian is not good enough apparently.
Megan modeled some and I like a lot of her pics.
But that’s all we know about her. Hope she’s thriving!
