Cycle 7, Episode 6: "The Girl Who Punk'd Ashton"
(This title is so misleading once you know what it’s actually referring to.)
Megg went home last week. Some of the models were sad to see her go.
Melrose isn’t one of them.
Now that everyone in the house is more comfortable with each other, the twins start to get their own identities. Amanda is known for being reserved while Michelle is more outgoing. Michelle also lets slip in a conversation with Jaeda that she thinks (in her words) she might be gay.
Brooke turns into a schoolgirl upon hearing that.
What is this meal, Brooke?
The models meet with Mark Steines, a co-host of Entertainment Tonight.
Mark was on ET until 2012. He was married to former Miss Florida and Miss America Leanza Cornett. She sadly died in 2020 after getting a head injury at home.
The contestants take turns interviewing Mark, a very low stakes situation.
But many of them struggle to ask basic questions.
After their lesson, they go on the red carpet to interview the one and only Janice Dickinson. Mark will be in their ears.
A.J.’s wearing a horrible hat that Janice asks her to take off.
Melrose wins the prize, which is the opportunity to “file a story” with Mark and the Entertainment Tonight team.
Janice says Melrose blew the rest of the competition out of the water. It doesn’t seem that hard because most of them are not naturals on the mic.
Tyra comes over to the model house to meet individually with everyone. She creepily wakes Amanda up from her nap.
Amanda is wearing high heels in bed??
From Tyra one-on-ones, we see that:
A.J. throws Melrose under the bus for being fake and hiding who she really is from the judges.
Melrose tells Tyra she’s aware she might come across as overly confident. But I think you’ve got to build yourself up in the modeling industry. So, A.J.’s just not meant for it.
CariDee opens up about her psoriasis and how it covered 78% of her body before coming on the show. I don’t recall CariDee talking about this on ANTM, but I do remember her commercials for psoriasis after.
Amanda cries about her sister revealing her sexuality. Amanda seems to want to protect Michelle from the negativity that she may face. You go, Amanda.
The twins talk to their mom on the phone and Amanda brings up her sexuality. I feel like a producer may have nudged her to discuss this. Her mom very sweetly asks how she’s doing and reiterating that her family loves her no matter what. I think this is the perfect reaction to a coming out.
Melrose does her red carpet assignment. She talks to a lot of guys from CW shows. Most of them aren’t famous now. It’s a little cringe to watch because red carpet interviews are usually so forced.
Mr. Jay explains the photoshoot for the week, which is posing as both sides of celebrity couples. It’s very strange and non-fashion.
Their assignments are:
CariDee - Brad and Angelina
Brooke - Britney and Kevin
Eugena - Beyonce and Jay-Z
A.J. - Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony
Michelle - Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi (because she’s gay)
Amanda - Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher
Jaeda - Whitney Houston (RIP) and Bobby Brown
Anchal - Oprah and Stedman
Melrose - Donald and Melania Trump (woof)
Their photographer is Matthew Jordan Smith. He tells the models they’re going to work harder than they’ve ever worked in their lives and I think that’s a stupid thing to say.
Eugena’s wig for Beyonce is insulting.
Anchal as Stedman is offensive somehow.
CariDee looks hot as Brad Pitt.
Brooke uses a live snake and isn’t phased by it. I give her props for that.
Amanda has to wear a bikini as Demi Moore. Why? We don’t know.
Their challenge at panel is to do more commentary! Surprise, most of them still suck.
Similar to last week, I don’t really like any of the photos or the concept overall. So here are everyone’s photos.
This hairstyling for Portia is bad bad bad.
She looks beautiful as Melania.
Tyra tells Anchal her two role models are her mom and Oprah. Same for me.
Minus the wig, this is a beautiful photo as Oprah. Her Stedman, which Tyra acknowledges as bad hair and makeup, looks atrocious.
Geez, Tyra.
Jaeda and A.J. land in the bottom. This is Jaeda’s second time there, but she survives again. A.J. is sent home. She told Oliver Twixt in an interview that she asked the producers to be eliminated. I don’t know if she hated the “fake girls” in the house or just needed to work on stuff herself.
She leaves wearing her ugly hat.
After the show, she did some modeling.
She has since gone back to school and is now a speech pathologist. Her Instagram appears to be private, so I hope she’s living her best life!
